about this project

For this exquisite dining room, the restaurant and bar acoustics had to be dealt with using cutting edge acoustic plaster technology so as to not compromise any of the design brief. Martin Brudnizki Design Studio wanted to redesign Fortnum & Mason’s original Fountain Restaurant with a design that fused the glamour of contemporary London with the heritage of the truly iconic department store.

Oscar Elite acoustic plaster, being the smoothest acoustic plaster on the market and appearing as conventional painted acoustic plaster, was specified by MBDS at a depth of 27mm. The complicated ceiling shape took some expert detailing, drawing on the vast amount of experience from the Oscar Acoustics technical team. Within all of the ceiling shapes Oscar Elite acoustic plaster was spray applied and with conventional painted plaster being used around the ceiling perimeter, a good colour match was going to be vital. Once completed, visually you could not tell the difference between the two plasters, and so the original design concept by MBDS remained as first intended.

If conventional acoustic plaster had been used, the restaurant acoustics would have created a noisy and stressful environment, which customers would choose not to return to. Oscar Elite smooth acoustic plaster quicky solved this issue by perfectly reducing noise levels in the restaurant leaving a calm, relaxing and ambient place in which to spend time.
