our commitment
Oscar Acoustics recognises that the built environment sector has a significant impact on the natural environment, and we accept our responsibility to manage and reduce that impact. As a specialist provider architectural acoustic finishes, soundproofing systems and other associated services, we are committed to embedding environmental responsibility into every aspect of our business.
This policy sets out Oscar Acoustics’ commitment to operating in an environmentally responsible manner, complying with all applicable environmental legislation, and continually improving our environmental performance.
Oscar Acoustics recognises that climate change presents both physical and transitional risks to our business and to the environments in which we work. We are committed to understanding and responding to those risks, reducing our contribution to climate change through carbon reduction, and building resilience into our operations and supply chain.

legal compliance
Oscar Acoustics will:
- Comply with all applicable environmental legislation, regulations and approved codes of practice, including the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011, the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005, and the Climate Change Act 2008.
- Monitor changes in environmental legislation and ensure ongoing compliance across all operations.
- Co-operate fully with client and principal contractor environmental requirements on all projects.
- Maintain a current waste carrier registration and manage all site waste responsibly in accordance with legal requirements.

environmental management system (EMS)
Oscar Acoustics holds ISO 14001:2015 accreditation, first achieved in 2020, and undergoes annual third-party audits to ensure our Environmental Management System is maintained and continuously improved. Our EMS covers all operations including our Oscar Innovation Centre HQ, all project sites, our company fleet, and procurement and supply chain activity.
Our EMS is supported by documented procedures, clear roles and responsibilities, and regular internal reviews to ensure it remains effective and aligned with our environmental objectives. Findings from audits, incidents and management reviews are used to drive continual improvement across the business.
carbon reduction and net zero
Oscar Acoustics is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. Our Carbon Reduction Plan, reviewed annually in partnership with Positive Planet and aligned with the GHG Reporting Protocol, sets out our science-based targets and reduction pathway. Key commitments include:
- Reduce Scope 1 (mobile combustion) and Scope 3 emissions by 63% by 2035 from our base year of November 2022 – October 2023.
- Maintain Scope 1 stationary combustion at zero.
- Bring market-based Scope 2 emissions back to zero and maintain through 100% renewable energy contracts at our HQ – The Oscar Innovation Centre.
- Offset annual market-based emissions via Gold Standard accredited carbon-capture programmes through Climate Trade while absolute reductions are achieved.
- Transition the company fleet to hybrid and electric vehicles; three low-emission vehicles are already in operation with nine EV charging points installed at our Oscar Innovation Centre.
- Achieve at least 90% reduction in total market-based emissions by 2050, neutralising any residual emissions with verified carbon offsets.
Oscar Acoustics measures its carbon footprint annually and are committed to annual reporting and continual improvement.
energy management
Oscar Acoustics is committed to reducing energy consumption at our operations. We will:
- Source 100% of electricity at our Oscar Innovation Centre HQ from renewable energy tariffs, with contracts in place and due for renewal in 2028.
- Utilise battery storage solutions installed at our Oscar Innovation Centre to store and use solar-generated energy during low-use periods, reducing grid electricity purchases.
- Monitor energy consumption and implement practical behaviour change measures including environmental reminders and environmental awareness training for all new starters.
- Include environmental awareness content in Health and Safety toolbox talks delivered to all site operatives.
waste management
Oscar Acoustics is committed to reducing waste generated through our operations and installation activities. We will:
- Minimise waste on site through accurate measurement, careful material handling and efficient installation methods aligned with our ‘do it right first time’ quality principle.
- Segregate waste on site to maximise recycling.
- Ensure all waste is handled in accordance with the waste hierarchy: prevent, reuse, recycle, recover, dispose.
- Maintain a valid waste carrier registration and ensure all waste contractors used by Oscar Acoustics are appropriately licensed.
materials and responsible procurement
Oscar Acoustics actively considers the environmental credentials of the products and materials we procure. We will:
- Prioritise materials with recognised environmental certifications. Our SonaSpray acoustic finish product already holds M1 building emissions certification, Greenguard Gold and Cradle to Cradle certifications.
- Ensure all timber used on our projects, whether temporarily or permanently installed, is FSC certified or holds equivalent certification confirming it is legally and sustainably sourced.
- Operate a Responsible Procurement Policy and integrate environmental performance criteria into our approved supplier list assessments.
- Source materials locally where quality and cost permit, to reduce transportation emissions.
transport and fleet
Transport is Oscar Acoustics’ primary source of direct (Scope 1) emissions. We will:
- Continue transitioning our operational fleet to hybrid and electric vehicles as part of our commitment to full fleet electrification by 2040. Three hybrid vehicles are currently in operation.
- Provide driver efficiency training to all field staff to reduce fuel consumption during the fleet transition period.
- Plan site logistics efficiently to minimise unnecessary vehicle movements and encourage car sharing among operatives.
- Ensure all staff are aware of our Sustainable Travel Policy, covering business travel, hotel stays and commuting, prioritising digital communication, active travel and low-emission options.
training and environmental awareness
Oscar Acoustics is committed to ensuring all employees understand their environmental responsibilities. We will:
- Incorporate environmental awareness into all new starter inductions.
- Deliver environmental content through regular toolbox talks to all site-based operatives.
- Issue companywide environmental reminders annually to ensure new and existing employees remain informed and engaged.
- Support the development of our Green Team, established in 2023, which draws members from across departments to lead carbon and environmental initiatives.
- Continue to invest in the professional development of our environmental function. One Green Team member has achieved Associate membership of ISEP (formerly IEMA), and carbon awareness training is planned for up to 20 staff in 2026.
supply chain
Oscar Acoustics expects all suppliers and sub-contractors to share our commitment to environmental responsibility. We will engage with our supply chain to understand their environmental performance, and we will take environmental credentials into account when making procurement and appointment decisions. Suppliers will be required to confirm compliance with relevant environmental legislation as a condition of engagement.
review and continuous improvement
This policy will be reviewed annually by the Managing Director and updated as necessary to reflect changes in our operations, legislation or best practice. It will be communicated to all employees and made available to clients, principal contractors and supply chain partners on request.
This policy provides the framework within which Oscar Acoustics establishes, implements and reviews its environmental objectives and targets, ensuring they remain consistent with our commitment to compliance, pollution prevention and continual improvement. Oscar Acoustics is committed to setting measurable environmental targets and reporting progress on an annual basis.
