The above acoustic data is tested as worst case, onto concrete. Applying onto other substrates such as plasterboard with air gaps behind or profiled metal soffits, primarily increases absorption at low frequency which can increase absorption classes.

SonaSpray can achieve any class as we can adjust acoustic performance by increasing and decreasing the material depth to suit the acoustic requirement and budget.

SonaSpray is a permanently installed interior finish material that is designed for the useful life of a building project. At the end of its useful life, the material may be removed and repurposed into thermal cavity fill insulation or for other recycling applications.

Future reconstruction of buildings may require the removal of SonaSpray. It can be recycled or disposed of as a non-special waste and your local authority environmental department will give advice on recycling.

Oscar Acoustics can take SonaSpray back and have it milled into thermal cavity fill.

Oscar Acoustics have taken steps to reduce our environmental impact and demonstrate our commitment to protecting the environment by achieving ISO 14001 certification.

  • Live drawing detailing for avoiding common pitfalls and achieving a long-lasting acoustic finish.
  • Things to be aware of with all acoustic finishes.

An introduction to the pioneering ‘Sownd Certification’. A new global performance-based standard, designed to formally classify buildings as audio-inclusive.

SonaSpray is excellent at thermally insulating by creating macroscopic air spaces between and within the cellulose fibres. U-Values can be adjusted to your projects exact requirements by adjusting the spray material depth.

  • Dry Weight of SonaSpray Eco+ per 10mm thickness = 1.60 kg/m2
  • Wet Weight of SonaSpray Eco+ per 10mm thickness = 2.93 kg/m2
  • Dry Weight of SonaSpray Eco+ per 20mm thickness = 3.20 kg/m2
  • Wet Weight of SonaSpray Eco+ per 20mm thickness = 5.86 kg/m2

SonaSpray Eco+ can be applied to virtually any substrate. Some surfaces may need priming to control suction. Old surfaces or boards with high recycled content, may need a stain barrier coating to prevent contaminants from leaching out whilst the surface is wet.

Fully cured SonaSpray can not only improve the architectural acoustics but improve the strength of the substrate.

Bond Strength:SonaSpray Eco+>600 psf ASTM E-736
Compression Strength:SonaSpray Eco+>400 psf ASTM E-761

The water-based adhesive used with SonaSpray Eco+ sound absorber provides a strong, durable and resilient bond.

Fully cured SonaSpray can not only improve the architectural acoustics but improve the strength of the substrate.

Recessed services e.g. spot lighting will require a halo spacer to match the material depth. Oscar Acoustics manufacture and install stainless steel halo spacers (drawing available) to the same size as the hole cut out.

Stop beads may be required around openings which again we can supply and install.

Specially designed access hatches are also available through Profab, enabling the SonaSpray to continue across the hatch door. Problems can arise from using other hatches. These items are at extra cost and are to be purchased direct from the Profab. Please contact Oscar Acoustics for details and item code. Surface mounted fittings e.g. hanging/pendant lights will require pattresses to match the material depth.

Please contact Oscar Acoustics for further advice.

Please Note: 90% of flangeless fittings do not work properly with any acoustic finish. If you are specifying a flangeless fitting, please contact Oscar Acoustics for advice.

SonaSpray Eco+ acoustic spray can be quickly and effectively applied to most prepared surfaces and construction configurations. This allows minimum working down time in existing structures with abilities to meet critical deadlines in new construction.

SonaSpray Eco+ has a seamless surface and is suited to ceilings of offices, restaurants, receptions, lecture theatres, lobbies, classrooms, swimming pools etc. SonaSpray Eco+ is an excellent sound absorber for any indoor space with a noise problem.

Please note that it is important not to use moisture resistant plasterboard as this can cause staining of wet applied products. Stain barrier primers and paints can be used to prevent this. Please consult Oscar Acoustics for more information.

When using plasterboard as the substrate, a minimum of 12.5mm thick plasterboard, installed to British Gypsum specification should be used.

SonaSpray can be over-painted or applied with additional coats of SonaSpray. Small areas of damage can be repaired by hand. Maintenance of SonaSpray is minimal.

If SonaSpray is disturbed or damaged so that fibre is released into the atmosphere, the resulting contamination is harmless.

Maintenance work can be undertaken while the building is occupied. Please refer to COSHH data for detailed product analysis.

Please note: Some surfaces, such as water stained ceilings, wood and oxidized metal, will require sealing to prevent migratory staining of the SonaSpray finish.

“SonaSpray is our go to acoustic ceiling application. The transformation from boomy to intimate is instant once the product is applied and the calmness of the space is something that people always comment on. At ‘Downstairs’, Oscar Acoustics wanted to try using Eco+ which incorporates recycled newspapers which are apparent if you look up close, but overall has a beautiful, textured look. We are delighted with it.”
