Oscar Acoustics celebrates winner of the 2025 RIBA Reinvention Award

We are delighted to announce that the winner of the 2025 RIBA Reinvention Award is Hugh Broughton Architects for their outstanding project at Sheerness Dockyard Church.
We were proud to partner with RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) as official sponsors of the Reinvention Award, presented at the prestigious 2025 RIBA Stirling Prize Ceremony which took place on the 16 October at the Roundhouse, Camden.
The award recognises excellence in the creative reuse and transformation of existing buildings, a topic very close to our heart at Oscar Acoustics. Working alongside visionaries in sustainable design and acoustic wellbeing, we continue to champion projects that combine heritage, sustainability and acoustic performance.
We would like to congratulate Hugh Broughton Architects on this wonderful achievement and thank all the shortlisted finalists for their inspiring work.

celebrating the power of reinvention
The RIBA Reinvention Award recognises excellence in the adaptive reuse and transformation of existing structures, a vital strategy in reducing environmental impact by favouring retrofit over demolition. This approach not only preserves architectural heritage but also contributes to the decarbonisation of the built environment, helping to meet global climate goals.
This year’s shortlisted projects showcase what’s possible when creativity, vision, and sustainability come together to reimagine the future of our buildings. You can view the full shortlist and learn more about the award here.

why this award matters to us
At Oscar Acoustics, our passion for sustainable design and acoustic wellbeing aligns perfectly with the values behind this award. We’ve long advocated for inclusive, future-focused approaches to building design that consider not just aesthetics, but also the long-term health of people and the planet.
By supporting the Reinvention Award, we are championing projects that lead by example, demonstrating that sustainable architecture can be beautiful, functional, and innovative. It’s a conversation we’re proud to be part of, and a cause that reflects our own journey and ethos as a business.
A shining example of this is our recent partnership with Sownd Affects and Arts Council England on a ground breaking project to enhance audio inclusion across three iconic Hackney music venues: Paper Dress Vintage, SJQ, and Vortex Jazz Club. Our specialist team delivered state-of-the-art acoustic upgrades that don’t just reduce unwanted noise; they enhance clarity, allowing people to connect more deeply with performances and eachother.
sustainability at the core of what we do
Founded in 1978, Oscar Acoustics has long been at the forefront of sustainable innovation in architectural acoustics. We are a carbon-neutral company, ISO 14001 accredited, and actively working toward Net Zero by 2050. Since partnering with Positive Planet in 2023, we’ve already reduced our company-wide emissions by over 35%.
Our award-winning headquarters – the Oscar Innovation Centre – is one of the top 0.35% most energy-efficient commercial buildings in the UK, featuring 164m² of solar PV panels and boasting a net-zero CO₂ status.
