Oscar Acoustics were specified by Associated Architects when designing this comprehensive, Cat A refurbishment and reconfiguration of Civic House (now Crossway) in Birmingham. Being the largest and most populated city outside of London, Birmingham is now a major commercial and cultural centre for the UK.
First constructed in 1981, the building is a twelve-storey office block that welcomes staff and visitors with a double-height entrance space upon entering the building. It was essential for the architects not to compromise the sophisticated interior design, despite the echo problem caused by the large open space and hard surfaces.
They needed a room echo solution to create a calm and inviting environment for all who entered the building.

They chose our seamless and fire-rated SonaSpray fc for its lightly textured and firm finish. The recycled and fire-rated acoustic spray achieves superb acoustics by absorbing sound, instead of reflecting it. It was applied by one of our expert installation teams throughout the impressive foyer area to control noise reverberation.
Once SonaSpray was applied to the ceilings throughout the foyer, it not solved the echo problem in one application, but prevented the need for further decorating. The results are an attractive, decorative acoustic finish and the perfect room echo solution without design compromise.
