The above acoustic data is tested as worst case, onto concrete. Applying onto other substrates such as plasterboard with air gaps behind or profiled metal soffits, primarily increases absorption at low frequency which can increase absorption classes.

SonaSpray can achieve any class as we can adjust acoustic performance by increasing and decreasing the material depth to suit the acoustic requirement and budget.

The SonaSpray range contributes towards many sustainable design and health certification systems including BREEAM, SKA, Living Building Challenge and adds up to 17 points towards the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating of a project.

The SonaSpray range achieves M1 certification as Low Emitting Building Materials. This is the best possible classification.

SonaSpray finishes are compliant with CDPH/ CA Section 01350 and are GREENGUARD Gold Certified for Indoor Air Quality.  GREENGUARD Gold Products are now confirmed to show compliance with BREEAM rating system HEA Indoor Air Quality and ensure that a product has met some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of VOC’s into indoor air.

The range is also covered by an Environmental and Health Product Declarations in accordance with ISO 14025 and meets the requirements of the Living Building Challenge and LEED.

SonaSpray can effectively lower the carbon footprint of the building project by sequestering rich stores of carbon for the life of the structure or application.

SonaSpray is a permanently installed interior finish material that is designed for the useful life of a building project. At the end of its useful life, the material may be removed and repurposed into thermal cavity fill insulation or for other recycling applications.

Future reconstruction of buildings may require the removal of SonaSpray. It can be recycled or disposed of as a non-special waste and your local authority environmental department will give advice on recycling.

Oscar Acoustics can take SonaSpray back and have it milled into thermal cavity fill.

Oscar Acoustics have taken steps to reduce our environmental impact and demonstrate our commitment to protecting the environment by achieving ISO 14001 certification.

The SonaSpray range is manufactured by International Cellulose Corporation (ICC) to the ISO 9001 quality management standard.

SonaSpray is excellent at thermally insulating by creating macroscopic air spaces between and within the cellulose fibres. U-Values can be adjusted to your projects exact requirements by adjusting the spray material depth. SonaSpray insulates by creating dead air spaces macroscopically between and within the hollow cellulose fibres.

Dry weight 4.50kg/m2 at 20mm thick.

SonaSpray fcx can be applied onto good quality concrete slab or plasterboard installed to British Gypsum (or equivalent) installation guidance.

Some surfaces may need priming to control suction. Old surfaces or boards with high recycled content, may need a stain barrier coating to prevent contaminants from leaching out of whilst the surface is wet.

Fully cured SonaSpray fcx can not only improve the architectural acoustics but improve the strength of the substrate.

Fully cured SonaSpray can not only improve the architectural acoustics but improve the strength of the substrate.

Recessed services e.g. spot lighting will require a halo spacer to match the material depth.

Oscar Acoustics manufacture and install stainless steel halo spacers (drawing available) to the same size as the hole cut out.

Stop beads may be required around openings which again we can supply and install.

Specially designed access hatches are also available through Profab, enabling the SonaSpray to continue across the hatch door. Problems can arrise from using other hatches. These items are at extra cost and are to be purchsed direct from the Profab.

Please contact Oscar Acoustics for details and item code. Surface mounted fittings e.g. hanging/pendant lights will require pattresses to match the material depth. Please contact Oscar Acoustics for further advice.

Please Note: 90% of flangeless fittings do not work properly with any acoustic finish. If you are specifying a flangeless fitting, please contact Oscar Acoustics for advice.

Thanks to its adaptability and performance, SonaSpray can be used in a wide range of settings:

·         Commercial: Offices, showrooms, boardrooms
·         Hospitality: Hotels, restaurants, bars
·         Entertainment: Film studios, concert halls, arenas
·         Retail: Shopping centres, high street stores
·         Education: Schools, universities, libraries
·         Cultural and Civic: Theatres, museums, town halls
·         Industrial: Warehouses, production spaces

It is important not to use moisture-resistant plasterboard, as this can cause staining of wet-applied products. Stain barrier primers and paints can be used to prevent this.

When using plasterboard as the substrate, a minimum of 12.5mm thick plasterboard, installed to British Gypsum specification should be used.

what our customers say

Quote Icon

“Our experience over the years teaches us that architecture and interior design are so much more than just looks. We consider every factor with each project we work on, and acoustics is no exception. We knew we needed a premium acoustic product that would also work with our designs, which is why we chose Oscar Acoustics.

The acoustics here are absolutely amazing – those speakers on the stage are stadium quality!”

David Mason, Director of Hospitality at Scott Brownrigg, Hard Rock Hotel, London

“Having used SonaSpray on several other projects, we knew how effective it was at reducing office noise. It’s quickly become our go-to product and our clients are always happy to follow our recommendations due to the huge difference it makes, both in open-plan areas and cellular spaces.

When we used a competitor product, we noticed a drop in standard and only SonaSpray delivers both in terms of aesthetics and sound management. The finish on the project was exceptional and hides any imperfections, making it as visually strong as it is at reducing noise.”

Mariachiara Dal Pozzo, Associate Director, tp bennett

“I am writing to congratulate your company for the success achieved in the reduction of the noise level in our school dining room when 200+ children are having their lunch.

Prior to the application of SonaSpray, the noise level was deafening, and now it is possible to talk to ones neighbour in a normal voice when lunching at the staff table…”

D.K.Emmett, Bursar, Fulham Prep School – SonaSpray fcx

“Simply Awesome! It’s created a totally different dining environment. Speech and music are clear and all background clutter noise has gone. The restaurant feels comfortable and somehow warmer and cosier.”

Tim Yeo, Black Tiles Restaurant Owner – SonaSpray

“The architect’s solution of fitting high level ‘sound absorbing’ panels produced a negligible improvement. We continued to ‘battle’ with intolerable ‘echo’ making the room unfit for its-purpose.

Following an independent sound monitoring exercise an alternative acoustic dampening application was recommended. Sonaspray was selected. My caretaking staff were greatly impressed by the attention to detail paid by your engineers in the installation procedure. Every surface was carefully covered and the procedure was very professionally completed.

The effect of the application has been tremendous! The hall is a different room and PE, assemblies and lunch-times have become pleasurable occasions compared to the sonic battleground we experienced previously.”
