The above acoustic data is tested as worst case, onto concrete. Applying onto other substrates such as plasterboard with air gaps behind or profiled metal soffits, primarily increases absorption at low frequency which can increase absorption classes.
* NRC calculated from EN 20354 tests.
SonaSpray can achieve any class as we can adjust acoustic performance by increasing and decreasing the material depth to suit the acoustic requirement and budget.

The SonaSpray range contributes towards many sustainable design and health certification systems including BREEAM, SKA, Living Building Challenge and adds up to 17 points towards the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating of a project.
The SonaSpray range achieves M1 certification as Low Emitting Building Materials. This is the best possible classification.
SonaSpray finishes are compliant with CDPH/ CA Section 01350 and are GREENGUARD Gold Certified for Indoor Air Quality. GREENGUARD Gold Products are now confirmed to show compliance with BREEAM rating system HEA Indoor Air Quality and ensure that a product has met some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of VOC’s into indoor air.
The range is also covered by an Environmental Product Declaration in accordance with ISO 14025 and meets the requirements of the Living Building Challenge and LEED.
Achieves Cradle to Cradle and contributes towards satisfying many features under the WELL Building Standard®

SonaSpray is a permanently installed interior finish material that is designed for the useful life of a building project. At the end of its useful life, the material may be removed and repurposed into thermal cavity fill insulation or for other recycling applications.
Disposal in accordance with local recycling/disposal rules.
Oscar Acoustics can take SonaSpray back and have it milled into thermal cavity fill.
Oscar Acoustics have taken steps to reduce our environmental impact and demonstrate our commitment to protecting the environment by achieving ISO 14001 certification.
The SonaSpray range is manufactured by International Cellulose Corporation (ICC) to the ISO 9001 quality management standard.
From specification to installation, everything is kept in-house. We have created our own purpose-built training facility in our Oscar Innovation Centre HQ.
The ‘SonaSpray Training Academy’ provides a controlled environment for our teams to build their skills with our Head of Quality Control. This ensures a high-quality and long lasting acoustic finish every time.
- SonaSpray is manufactured by ICC to ISO 9001.
- Installed using a four stage Oscar Acoustics quality assurance plan.
- Materials, equipment, labour and installation only to be provided by ICC’s sole licensee for Great Britain – Oscar Acoustics.
- BIM Objects available for every product.
- All products are included within all current NBS software.
- Recessed and surface mounted items possible – see website for more information.
- Standard detail drawings for most situations.

SonaSpray acoustic ceiling and wall finish insulates by creating dead air spaces macroscopically between and within the hollow cellulose fibres. Testing on actual buildings demonstrates that sprayed insulation outperforms fibreglass bats that are mechanically retained. 100mm thick U = 0.32 W/m2K
For areas such as indoor pools and ice arenas, SonaSpray K-13 Special aids in condensation control. The proper combination of SonaSpray K-13 Special and ventilation prevents condensation on metal, concrete and other surfaces. SonaSpray K-13 Special reduces ventilation requirements, saving in both the ventilation equipment investment operating costs.
- Dry Weight of SonaSpray K-13 Special per 10mm thickness = 0.90 kg/m2
- Wet Weight of SonaSpray K-13 Special per 10mm thickness = 1.72 kg/m2
- Dry Weight of SonaSpray K-13 Special per 20mm thickness = 1.80 kg/m2
- Wet Weight of SonaSpray K-13 Special per 20mm thickness = 3.44 kg/m2
SonaSpray K-13 Special acoustic ceiling and wall finish can be applied to virtually any substrate; some surfaces may need priming to control suction. Old surfaces may need a barrier coating to prevent staining from leaching out contaminants while the surface is wet. Fully cured SonaSpray K-13 Special will improve strength as well as reducing noise reverberation.
The adhesive used with SonaSpray K-13 Special acoustic ceiling and wall finish provides a strong, durable and resilient bond. When fully cured, surface strength of old plaster will typically improve.
Recessed services e.g. spot lighting will require a halo spacer to match the material depth. Oscar Acoustics manufacture and install stainless steel halo spacers (drawing available) to the same size as the hole cut out. Stop beads may be required around openings which again we can supply and install. Specially designed access hatches are also available through Profab, enabling the SonaSpray to continue across the hatch door. Problems can arrise from using other hatches. These items are at extra cost and are to be purchsed direct from the Profab. Please contact Oscar Acoustics for details and item code. Surface mounted fittings e.g. hanging/pendant lights will require pattresses to match the material depth. Please contact Oscar Acoustics for further advice.
Please Note: 90% of flangeless fittings do not work properly with any acoustic finish. If you are specifying a flangeless fitting, please contact Oscar Acoustics for advice.
SonaSpray K-13 Special acoustic ceiling and wall finish can be quickly and effectively applied to any prepared surface and construction configuration where noise reverberation is a problem. This allows minimum working down time in existing structures with abilities to meet critical deadlines in new construction. SonaSpray K-13 Special has a medium surface texture and is suited to reducing noise reverberation in large rooms and halls. When applying to walls, position acoustic finishes above head height. For lower walls or areas of high impact, see EchoCheck acoustic blocks.
Other SonaSpray products offer a finer surface texture.
Please note that it is important not to use moisture resistant plasterboard as this can cause staining of wet applied products. Oil based stain barrier paints can be used to prevent this. Please consult Oscar Acoustics for more information.
A minimum of 12.5mm thick plasterboard, installed to British Gypsum specification should be used.
SonaSpray K-13 Special acoustic ceiling and wall finish can be over-painted (consult Oscar Acoustics technical department before painting as noise reverberation controlling properties can be significantly reduced if applied incorrectly), or applied with additional coats of SonaSpray. Small areas of damage can be repaired by hand.
If SonaSpray K-13 Special acoustic ceiling and wall finish is disturbed or damaged so that fibre is released into the atmosphere, the resulting contamination is harmless. Maintenance work can be undertaken while the building is occupied. Please refer to COSHH data for detailed product analysis.

versatile acoustic designs
SonaSpray K-13 Special was developed for installations where the standard SonaSpray K-13 surface was considered to be too coarse. SonaSpray K-13 Special has a finer texture and is an attractive acoustic finish for a wide range of interiors including offices, restaurants, hotels and other public spaces where acoustic design and aesthetics go hand-in-hand.
Available in a range of standard colours from stock, SonaSpray K-13 Special can also be specially manufactured to the client’s colour requirement (minimum quantity applies).
SonaSpray K-13 Special acoustic spray is a total system with in-built treatment for fire and mould resistance and has colouring throughout the full thickness of the coating.
Verified performance: Independent acoustic test data for painted finishes is available.
